چکیده

Abstract Diabetic fibrous mastopathy (DFM) is a rare benign fibrotic disease of the breast that develops in patients with longstanding and often uncontrolled diabetes mellitus. Clinically, may present an irregular, firm, palpable mass, which be solitary or multiple, occurring one both breasts. occurs most premenopausal women heterogeneously extremely dense breasts; mammography show focal asymmetry or, less often, noncalcified mass indistinct obscured margins, but there are usually no discrete findings. On US, DFM have marked hypoechogenicity posterior shadowing secondary to extensive fibrosis. features on contrast-enhanced MRI also nonspecific, gradual persistent nonmass enhancement reported. Because clinical presentation US overlap those cancer, histopathologic correlation needed confirm diagnosis exclude malignancy. These findings include collagenous stroma keloidal chronic perilobular perivascular inflammation. Histopathologic lymphocytic lobulitis inflammation common other autoimmune conditions.

Anatomic Pathology / DIABETIC MASTOPATHY Diabetic Mastopathy A Clinicopathologic Review

Diabetic mastopathy, an uncommon form of lymphocytic mastitis and stromal fibrosis, typically occurs in longstanding type 1 diabetes. Nineteen cases meeting predetermined histopathologic criteria for diabetic mastopathy were correlated as to clinical history and disease recurrence. Physical examination revealed palpable discrete masses or diffuse nodularity, both predominantly in the subareolar...

Diabetic mastopathy: imaging features and the role of image-guided biopsy in its diagnosis.

PURPOSE The goal of this study was to evaluate the imaging features of diabetic mastopathy (DMP) and the role of image-guided biopsy in its diagnosis. METHODS Two experienced radiologists retrospectively reviewed the mammographic and sonographic images of 19 pathologically confirmed DMP patients. The techniques and results of the biopsies performed in each patient were also reviewed. RESULT...

Diabetic mastopathy: a case report.

Diabetic mastopathy (DMP) is an uncommon collection of clinical, radiological, and histological features, classically described in premenopausal women with long-term insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. This entity can mimic breast carcinoma, but, in the appropriate clinical and imaging setting, the diagnosis can be made by core biopsy, avoiding unnecessary surgeries. We report the case of a 34...

Re: Spinal epidural hemangiomas: various types of MR imaging features with histopathologic correlation.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Because of the high vascularization of hemangiomas, preoperative misinterpretation may result in unexpected intraoperative hemorrhage and incomplete resection, which results in the persistence of clinical symptoms or recurrence. Our purpose was to analyze various MR imaging features of a spinal epidural hemangioma with histopathologic correlation. MATERIALS AND METHODS ...
